Skype web and me

Me: Skype client won't connect. Maybe my linux client is out-of-date.

Microsoft: TRY THE NEW SKYPE WEB BETA!

Me: OK.

(logs onto skype web beta client. Tries to start conversation with grad student)

Microsoft: I AM SORRY. VIDEO AND AUDIO ARE NOT SUPPORTED ON YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM.

skype seems pretty popular, unfortunately I may have to check it out one of these days.

I typically will use google hangouts for my proprietary audio/video needs. naturally that doesn't work for everyone, either, tho.

Tox is quite good. I tried uTox recently, and enjoyed the Skype-like ease of use. Of course, you still need to convince your contacts to migrate...
